Win Some and Lose Some

4 May

In belated news, Break of Day DID NOT make it to the final round in The Cartoonist Studio Cartoonist Contest.

Not sure why (judges haven’t told a reason behind getting the boot) but we’re out!

Not too upset about it, but it would’ve been a nice time line for things to come together here at the studio (the winner gets a developmental contract).  Mostly because my wife has her birthday on May 11th, and the winner was going to be announced May 1oth – so it would’ve been an extra great birthday treat!  Plus, it would’ve some-what corresponded with the launch of BOD in the paper (which happened with Osama’s death on May 2nd…see below).

I’m just anxious as ever to – well – get syndicated!  There’s no hiding that fact.

Everything is actually in a great direction regardless of the contest results.  I knew going into any contest that I couldn’t depend on it (for a win).  You just never know, and apparently our little feature wasn’t their cup of tea.

In saying all of that, thank you all for the votes and support during the contest!  Some of you went far and beyond your voting means, and it was all very appreciated!  We hung in there for nine weeks, and there were quite a few votes during that whole time, so thanks again!

Moving on though, there’s some exciting things coming!  Can’t announce much right now, but we’ll keep you updated as frequently as conspiracy theories about Osama’s death!

Well you should feel good about the amount of support you got to get so close. Testament to how hard you worked it and how good your stuff is consistently.

Thanks, Bearman. And yea, I feel pretty darn swell about the support (is ‘swell’ still a word?)! Thanks again for your support

Maybe we should bring it back.
